Time and Technology
From ashrafiya.com
Sayyidi wa sanadi Shaikh Mufti Mohammad Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve him) said,
‘These days most of us are preoccupied by the past events or future apprehensions. In doing so we neglect the present.’
An individual inquired,
‘In our era due to technological advances every day chores are done relatively quickly. Hence we have extra time available to us. This usually results in preoccupation with useless involvements including those you mention. How can we utilize time more effectively?’
Sayyidi wa sanadi replied,
‘I repeatedly tell the people the same and ask them what are they doing with the time they save by using these new technologies.
An individual has to develop the importance of value of time.
Once this importance is developed then it will be impossible for him to waste a single second. Moreover, Allah will give barakah in his time and he will be able to do more work effectively in the same amount of time.’

Its one of the toughest lessons to learn and is all taufeeq, I feel. Hazat Thanvi (rah) said "susti ka ilaaj bas hai chusti" : (...
Any tips on how to inculcate the importance of time into oneself, sir?
Apart from that, what can beat the reading and absorbing the daily routines of our akaabireen. The perfect time managers! I feel we must make it a point to take inspiration form the accounts of the daily life of our pious elders, and try our best to emulate them. Emulating them would help us incorporate the various sunnah of our Beloved Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wassallam.
Jazaakumullahu khaira for visiting.
-Your sister in Islam.
that was a very helpful, pertinent advice; to think aloud, hidden in it I guess is the concept that nafs feels ashamed on seeing examples and then pushes one into action - a case of nafs doing good things...very important to understand for people like me with stubborn, stupid nafs, astaghfirullah.
I would be grateful if you could list down some books which describe our akaabireen's schedules. I only know of "akaabir ka ramzaan" which details on schedules. Biographies would be a tad long for students like me to take out time.
Since the comments section first needs to be approved by you and you can edit it, sister, I would like to relate that I will not be comfortable discussing things with you unless you are atleast over 38 yrs. I am also reluctant to directly cut off, as I feel good on visiting your blog and the poetic feel. Can you kindly just answer "yes to your last question" or "no to your last question" in the reply comment, for Allah swt's sake, please.
Apologies for being shallow perhaps, but guys like me are better off being wary of themselves.
jazaakAllahu khaira.
