"...Meray Ghaneem na bhool tuu ke sitam ki shab ko zawaal hai"

Israeli jets have launched a second day of air attacks on the Gaza Strip, amid warnings that operations will continue until Hamas ends rocket fire from Gaza.

Palestinians now say at least 280 people have died, while Israel is said to be considering a ground assault and has authorised the call-up of reserves.

At the UN, the Security Council called for an end to all violence in Gaza, including rocket attacks from Gaza.

Israel says militants have fired 110 rockets into Israel since Saturday.

The country's cabinet has authorised the call-up of reserve soldiers, with unconfirmed reports saying as many as 6,500 could be summoned for duty.

This reminds me of a poem I read long ago, and I do not know who the poet is... It is a poem of hope. Hope, for which a heavy price is being paid. Hope, which gives me another hope that all this would simply not go to waste. Hopefully...

"Meray tan ke zakhm na gin abhi
Meri aankh mein abhi noor hai
Meray baazoo'on pe nigaah kar
Jo ghuroor tha wo ghuroor hai
Abhi rizm-gaah ke darmiyaan, hai mera nishaan khula hua
Abhi taaza-dum hai mera farass naye ma'arkon pe tula hua
Bara muntaqim hai mera lahoo...
Yeh meray nasab ki sarisht hai
Mein ussi qabeelay ka fard hoon jo hareef-e-sail-e-bala raha
Ussay marg-e-zaar ka hosh kya, jo kafan-badosh sada raha
So meray ghaneem na bhuul tuu
Keh sitam ki shab ko zawaal hai
Tera zulm-o-jabr bala sahi, mera hosla bhi kamaal hai
Tujhe josh-e-gazand pe naaz hai, mujhe naaz zakhm-e-badan pe hai
Jo gulaab meray kafan pe hai
Yehi naama-bar hai bahaar ka!"

... I do not have words to comment on the barbarism that goes on in Palestine. I fear the day when this helplessness will turn into hopelessness! I hope that does not happen but the circumstances seem to say otherwise

All of us are just watching shamelessly, I wonder what happened to all those who flung themselves to help the indians during mumbai blasts... oh but.. they were jews from israel.
I wonder where we stand in all this. At times I'm scared of my own grounds... Allah help us help others or atleast feel for our muslim brothers.Ameen
I don't know why Asma but this is now getting to my head. It's way too sorrowful to see what they are showing on TV. Israel is now preparing for a ground attack as if this was not enough. Was just listening to the news and they have bombed a university in Gaza. Asma, we too study in a university, no? The thought is way too dreadful...
... Aur hamari haalt-e zaar pe yeh sh'er saadiq aata hai,

Asar aisa kahan se laa'oon Ya Rabb naala-e dil mein
Jo iss bay-mehr ko bhi raaz-e ghum se aashna kar de

We are soo lost in our own worlds that we dont actually... remember the same thing we talked about in our 2 pm wednesday discussions that we have this carefree attitude, k it's going on in Palestine atleast not in our country, even if in our country atleast not happening in our own city, even in our own city then atleast not affecting me or my family... I was soo enraged by this Israeli reporter who said that major Hamas head quarters were targets, i mean.. give us a break, we saw who actually were the victims... just imagine him saying that chalo jitne zyada marein utna acha hai... This Ummah is soo lost... we are soo lost... war in our country... at our own doorstep and look at us, look around.. hum be-his ho chuke hain... :(
seriously... I am missing the 2.00 pm Wednesday discussions and the 8.30 am reading sessions like anything! At least they seemed to keep our hearts alive and gave us a direction to channel our thoughts...
May Allah help us! aameen

I'm sorry but i'm little curious about "reading sessions". What kind of? if feasible i could start my own!! as an antidote to my spiritual and intellectual illness.
:)

These reading sessions are conducted by a teacher for his students. And they are more like a discussion activity...
