"Jaayen kahan abb aur, yahan tak tou aagaye..."

January 20, 2009

I took my first class as a 'co-operative teacher' at the department in the evening today. I feel so lost at the moment! I can feel the responsibility weighing down on my shoulders. No, I am not really scared of teaching or communicating. I am scared of myself. It is not easy. Seriously.

Every 'warrior of light' has doubts about himself/herself at one point or another ;)

In short, it is possible.
@Awais

Sigh... Pata nahi, I really cannot figure out what this confusion is all about. I hope it gets resolved soon. InshaAllah. Confusions are always weird stuff!

@Umer

What's possible? :)

Aren't principles of sufism similar to age old ones of greeks. Then why differentiate b/w sufism and mysticism?
No, Umer! Here I would disagree completely. tasawwuf is entirely distinct from what you may call the philosophy of mysticism. However, the Western term 'Sufism' may have elements of it! But I repeat tasawwuf has nothing to do with mysticism! So one has to first look into the differences between tasawwuf and mysticism!
Semantic confusion, eh? :)

I generally do get enough time to post regularly on my blog and hence I am not really in touch with you people nowadays. I may not be able to write anything detailed about it but I suggest thatyou read Professor S.M. Lateefullah's tasawwuf aur sirriyyat i.e. Tasawwuf and Mysticism. This is, for me at least, one of the core texts that sorts out this confusion between! I think it is published by Idara-e Saqafat-e Islamia, Lhr.
