Another loss...

Today when I was preparing my evening tea in the kitchen, my younger brother came in and announced the sad news of Maulana Sarfaraz Khan Safdar's (rahimahullah) demise. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raaji'oon. He was a renkowned researcher, scholar, writer and a lectrurer of both Tafseer and Hadith. He was also one of the leading authorities and masters of tasawwuf. Today when he passed away, his was in his early hundreds.

There goes an Arabic saying, Maut ul 'aalim, maut ul 'aalam (A knowledgeable's death is the death of a world)...

One after the other these gems of knowledge and wisdom who are responsible for wroughting change, in only God knows how many lives are leaving this world. Last year it was Sayyid Nafees Shah Saheb (rahimahullah) and this year it is Maulana Safdar. May Allah protect those who have the light of true knowledge glowing in their hearts - the light which is transmitted in to the hearts all those who are keen to receive it. These people never die. Their legacy carries on in the form of their students as a sadaqah-e jaaria. But yes, one does feel a great sense of loss and deprivation at the departure of such great men from this world. A sense of loss that is indescribable in words. May Allah have mercy oh his soul. Aameen.

Although sadly my knowledge isn't as much as to say that yes, I knew this aalim and had read his works, I know one thing. That aalims will be taken by Allah, when the Last Day comes closer..

Which is exactly what's happening.

May Allah Rest his soul and grant him Jannah Ameen.

Thank you for sharing. What you can do is, be part of the sadqa-e-jariyah and post some of the things he taught.

For idiots like me...(who are eager to learn for sure)...
I will try to inshaAllah... but the fact of the matter is that I too am quite an ignorant person in these matters...

I feel so hollow... and the realization that I still don't know anything and how meaningless a life I'm living and... I'm just praying... Allahumahdina fee man hadayt...
Ameen
I have an English translation of his work, Al Minahj Al Wadih or 'The Path of Sunnat' in pdf format. Can email it if anyone of you wants it.
