". . . Meray rastay ka har ik sung, sitaara ban jaye!!"

I have always highly admired Amjad Islam Amjad's exceptional talent for composing nazm. The following is, however, what he has titled as a Na'atiya Nazm in his collection, Baarish ki Aawaaz. It is beautiful, indeed. Poets are poets because they externalise our internal feelings and thoughts by transforming them into words. And words undoubtedly are too valuable at times...
Na'atiya Nazm
Amjad Islam Amjad
Yeh jo bay-rung si bay-aab si aati hai nazar
Issi miTTi pe paRa karte thay vo noor qadam
Uss ke phailaao mein konayn simaT jaatay hain
Aankh mein chaaron taraf rung se lehraatay hain
Paa'on khud jis ki taraf khinchte chalay jatay hain
Yehi jaada hai jo jaata hai Khuda ki jaanib
Kitni sadiyon se mussallat tha koi shak mujh per
Apnay hone ki gavaahi bhi nahi milti thi
Habs aisa tha koi shaakh nahi hilti thi!
Ik kali aisi nahi thi jo nahi khilti thi
Jab khuli shaan-e "raf'ana laka dhikrak" mujh per
Aap ka naqsh-e qadam mera sahara ban jaye
Baad-e rahmat ka ishaara ho safeenay ki taraf
Vo jo ik raah nikalti hai Madinay ki taraf
Uss ki manzil ka nishaan ho meray seenay ki taraf
Meray rastay ka har ik sung, sitaara ban jaye!!
How beautiful indeed is this piece of religious poetry! In each bund, the connection between the first and the last lines is noteworthy. A rabt that speaks for itself and commands no explication!
