Umar Radi Allahu 'Anhu - The Desired One

Maulana Ibrahim said something very beautiful about the elevated status of Umar RadiAllahoanhu in today's (Friday's) bayan. I am compelled to quote it here:

All the sahaaba (the companions of the Prophet sallAllahu alaihi wassallam) were the muriid (the followers). Only Umar (radiAllahoanhu) was the muraad (the desired one).

[This refers to the incident when the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wassallam specially prayed to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make Umar Radiallahuanhu enter into the fold of Islam.]
